Marriage Equality

I can always count on Justice Michael Kirby to articulate how I feel on certain issues.  He spoke on Monday at the 12th National Family Law Conference in  Perth on the issue of Marriage Equality.  I hope to get a hold of his full presentation.

I can't believe the thing they're now arguing about is whether a civil union 'mimics' marriage. Ummm... doesn't a de fact partnership mimic marriage as well? Shouldn't they be just as horrified at heterosexuals mimicking marriage by living in sin if that's the bee in their bonnet?
