A site by Stefan Sagemeister, one of my favourite design guru types. From the site:
The idea for this site originally came out of my own list in my diary, under the very same title: Things I have learned in my life so far. Astonishingly, I have only learned twenty or so things so far.
[...]
So here I extend this same question to you:
What have you learned in your life so far? What is it that you are fairly sure about? What is it that you believe in by now?
Please do write it down beautifully. Design it digitally, photograph it, draw it, scan it and upload it. Use any media that works for you, paint, sculpture, film….
Go on, submit something! I may even myself...
This one's by Mattias Mackler
Working for the man, sometimes you have to design a cliche. Sometimes you have to use fonts off the rack. I know I will have gone to pot when I no longer care.
"I want a logo with people in it. I want it to be green, white and blue. Oh yeah, with a globe of the world". *Le sigh*
I designed this report for the University of Sydney from start to finish, the layout, illustrations and even some of the photography. I organised the printing (Peachy Print rock!) and pretty much had complete creative control.
If you're really keen, you can download the report in pdf. Though it is much sexier in the flesh... especially the plain white embossed cover. Mmmm!
I wouldn't normally enter my work in a competition where you have to pay and where the 'prize' is practically non existent but I felt this work need some peer recognition... not something I get working in house. I didn't realise I needed it until now, I've always had confidence in what I do but it's reassuring to receive it none the less.
Yes, a little typography pun, coming to a bond t-shirt near you. Made from all the standard fonts available on your pc... minus comic sans because it doesn't count:

If there's one thing I'm good at, it's blowing my own trumpet. Actually, speaking of... a hum... never mind.
So yeah, I pick me.
Just reading an article on sentence diagramming over at Design Observer. I don't get it. I want to get it as something so ordered appeals to me as a very very unordered person. Am just not sure if there is any method to the madness.
Anyone?
There's an ebook on it here that I'm going to give a go.
Australian Infront are running their visual response contest again; the theme for this one is 'future?'. Below is my entry. Suitably naff I think.
The Devil Incarnate aka Microsoft is apparently preparing to challenge Apples ownership of 50% of the digital player market by bringing out their own version of the iPod.
We can anticipate the packaging will look something like this:
The video actually originated from Microsoft. At least they have a sense of humor but it's done little to increase the quality of their packaging, product or any other design.
Mmmm psychadelic. It was the work of this bloke, Martin Sharp, that first got me interested in graphic design.
Exhibition, with Peter Kingston, until 19th November at the Art Gallery of NSW.
